Making Life Easier for Your Patients

My name is Bonnie, and I’m a multitasker.

This is both a blessing and a curse. I’ve developed methods to stay organized and on task since one project usually leads to another and another. The blessing is that I love what I do. The curse is that it’s not uncommon for me to look up and find that much more time has gone by than I realized. I’m the first to admit that without technology, I’d be a mess.

Does this sound familiar? If you’re like me, you appreciate anything that can save you time, money or make your life easier or more efficient. Often, it’s the little things that make all the difference. Here’s a great example.

Last weekend, as I finally returned home from a very busy three weeks of travel and meetings, I found my Monday off to the kind of start nobody enjoys. It was 7:30 a.m., and I was already well into my day, setting my priorities, and responding to emails. I had just found a rhythm when it dawned on me. I had ignored an earlier appointment alarm as I answered a phone call. I had an appointment with my dental hygienist – in 30 minutes! Of course, being a good patient, I would NEVER “no show” for a dental appointment, so I dropped everything and rushed out the door. I remember thinking as I made my way through the Monday morning traffic, “I can’t believe my own dentist doesn’t send email and text reminders! Really?!”

Thankfully, I made it to my appointment in the nick of time, and my day was back on track.

This is a good time to confess that I’m also a “fixer”, so as I left the office, I laid a copy of The Progressive Dentist magazine on my dentist’s desk – with a certain page marked with a note that said, “As always, a great appointment! May I show you a way to make life easier for your patients? They’ll love you and your team even more!”
