If you’ve been prescribed medication or have been advised to make lifestyle changes to help manage your blood pressure, it’s important to carefully follow your doctor’s recommendations.
If you haven’t had your blood pressure checked recently, we hope you will make an appointment with your doctor by the end of the year.
Thank you!
Mental Health – Anti Depression
Hello. This is “Plan Prevent” with a message for (Identification First Name) .To hear this message in English please press 1. Por favor oprima el numero dos para oír este mensaje en Español.
Depression is a "whole-body" illness, involving your body, mood, and thoughts. It affects the way you eat and sleep, the way you feel about yourself, and the way you think about things. People with a depressive illness cannot merely "pull themselves together" and get better.
Appropriate treatment, however, can help most people who suffer from depression. One of the most common treatments is taking anti-depressant medications. Taking your medications consistently, keeping your doctor appointments, eating right, exercising, and getting the proper rest are all important parts of feeling better.
Take your medicine as prescribed, talk to your doctor, and be good to yourself!

Medical Assistance with Smoking Cessation
Good evening from your health plan, “Plan Prevent”. If you are a smoker and are interested in quitting, we would like to help. Please press 1 to hear more details about the benefits of quitting smoking.
Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. Almost immediately, a person's circulation begins to improve and the level of carbon monoxide in the blood begins to decline. A person's pulse rate and blood pressure, which may be abnormally high while smoking, begin to return to normal. Within a few days of quitting, a person's sense of taste and smell return, and breathing becomes increasingly easier.
People who quit smoking live longer than those who continue to smoke. Women who stop smoking before becoming pregnant or who quit in the first 3 months of pregnancy can reverse the risk of low birth weight for the baby and reduce other pregnancy-associated risks. Quitting also reduces the risk of other smoking-related diseases, including heart disease and chronic lung disease.
There are multiple programs to choose from so we recommend that you work with your family doctor to determine the proper method for you.
Thank you for your time.
Lead Poisoning
Hello, this is Plan Prevent calling with an important message.
We want the best for you and your children. That’s why we are reminding you that all children must have a first lead test by age one year, and second test when they turn 2. Even if you live in new housing, your child is in danger of lead poisoning. Lead dust can be breathed when there is construction, and it may be found in utensils, water and soil. Lead poisoning can cause permanent brain damage that makes it hard for your child to learn in school.
For the location of the nearest lab where your child can be tested, ask your child’s doctor, or call Member Services at 1-800-000-0000.
Remember the test only takes about 10 minutes and could make a lifetime of difference. Thank you!

Contact your primary care physician to discuss what options are best for you to better your chances of winning the battle over osteoporosis.

Glaucoma Screening in Older Adults
Good evening. This is your health plan, “Plan Prevent” calling with a health-related message for (identification first name). Please press 1 to hear this important message.
Glaucoma is sometimes called the silent thief because it can slowly steal your sight before you realize anything's wrong. The most common form of glaucoma develops gradually, giving no warning signs. Many people aren't even aware they have an eye problem until their vision is extensively compromised. Glaucoma is the second most common cause of vision loss in the United States affecting approximately 3 million Americans.
Glaucoma gives few warning signs until permanent damage has already occurred. That's why regular eye exams are the key to detecting glaucoma early enough for successful treatment. It's best to have routine eye checkups every one to two years after age 65. Your regular doctor can perform some tests, but others need to be done by an eye care specialist.
Schedule your eye exam today to help prevent the loss of eyesight due to glaucoma.

Management of Urinary Incontinence in Older Adults
Good Afternoon, “Plan Prevent” would like to bring you an important health-related message. Please press 1 to hear this important message. If you have a rotary phone, please stay on the line.
Urinary incontinence means that you can't always control when you urinate. As a result, you wet your clothes. This can be embarrassing, but it can be treated. About 12 million adults in the United States have urinary incontinence. It's most common in women over 50 years old. But it can also affect younger people, especially women who have just given birth.
Treatment depends on what's causing the problem and what type of incontinence you have. If your urinary incontinence is caused by a medical problem, the incontinence will go away when the problem is treated.
If you hide your incontinence, you risk getting rashes, sores, and skin and urinary tract infections. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you have this problem.

Hello. This is “Plan Prevent” with a message for (Identification First Name) about your pregnancy. To hear this message in English please press 1. Por favor oprima el numero dos para oír este mensaje en Español.
Prenatal care is the care you get while you are pregnant. This care can be provided by a doctor, midwife or other health care professional. The goal of prenatal care is to monitor the progress of a pregnancy and to identify potential problems before they become serious for either mom or baby. As soon as you think you are pregnant, call your health care provider to find out when you should come in for your first prenatal care appointment.
During your pregnancy, make sure you attend all of your prenatal care appointments, even if you’re feeling fine. Women who see a health care provider regularly during pregnancy have healthier babies, are less likely to deliver prematurely, and are less likely to have other serious problems related to pregnancy.
Please contact your doctor to set up your prenatal check-up, for your baby’s health and yours.

Colorectal cancer, or cancer of the colon or rectum, is the 2nd-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. The American Cancer Society recommends screening for colorectal cancer beginning at age 50. Screening can find pre-cancerous growths called polyps, so they can be removed before they develop into cancer. Screening tests can also find colorectal cancer early, when treatment is most effective. So if you are 50 or older, please discuss colorectal screening with your doctor. You can also obtain additional information about colorectal screening by visiting the “Plan Prevent” website at www.planprevent.com under health information on the preventive health page.

Utilization of Generic Drugs
Good evening. “Plan Prevent Pharmacy” would like to bring you this helpful message regarding generic drugs.
What's the difference between a generic and a brand name drug? Not much, except for the brand name and the big difference in price. A drug is identified by two names. One is the chemical name or the generic name and the other is the brand name or the marketing name.
A Generic drug is a medication often recognized by its chemical name. Generic drugs have all the active elements of a brand name drug, but you can purchase them at reasonable rates. Generic drugs are as much as 70% cheaper than their brand name counterparts. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ensures that generic drugs are equivalent to brand-name drugs. They have the same therapeutic effect as that of brand name drug, are similar in strength, have similar effectiveness and most of the time, are administered in the same dosage as the brand name offering. Today, almost half of all prescriptions are filled with generic drugs. They are safe, effective and save you money!
For more information, talk to your pharmacist and the next time you visit your pharmacy, ask for the generic of the brand name drug you are currently taking.
Thank you!
