2007 Daylight Saving Time Changes
Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes mandated by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 will affect computers using Microsoft Windows operating systems. Beginning in 2007, DST will start three (3) weeks earlier (second Sunday in March) and will end one (1) week later (first Sunday in November). For 2007, DST will start on March 11, 2007 at 2:00 A.M. and will end on November 4, 2007 at 2:00 A.M.
Computers using Microsoft Windows operating systems may need an update, available from Microsoft, to keep their internal clocks automatically adjusted. TeleVox Software recommends that our customers consult with their local computer service provider or IT department, well in advance of the new DST dates, to ensure their computers are correctly configured. Otherwise, inconsistencies between your scheduling software and TeleVox systems may occur when DST changes take place.
Currently, DST updates provided by Microsoft for Windows XP SP2 are listed as optional, not critical, and as such will not automatically download via Microsoft update or Windows update. According to information in the Microsoft article "Preparing for daylight saving time changes in 2007", Microsoft expects to change the classification to high priority or critical, which will make this an automatic update. Microsoft Vista will not require updating, as 2007 DST changes will ship with the new operating system. With the exception of Windows 2000, versions of Microsoft Windows prior to XP SP2 are no longer supported by Microsoft and will not have 2007 DST update patches issued. Users may need to change DST time settings manually on unsupported computer systems.
