Big Brothers Big Sisters Agency Names TeleVox Corporate Partner of the Year
Mobile, AL, May 18, 2006 - Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of South Alabama YMCA recently recognized TeleVox Software as its 2006 Corporate Partner of the Year. The award honors the volunteer work of over 25 TeleVox employees as Big Brothers and Big Sisters to children at Eichold-Mertz Elementary School in Mobile, AL, throughout the 2005-06 school year.
TeleVox employees participated in BBBS’s School-Based Mentoring program, making a commitment to spend at least one hour per week with their “Little.” Individual mentoring sessions took place at the school, during which “Bigs” and “Littles” played games, completed character-building exercises and built friendships.
“The enthusiasm we witnessed throughout the year made TeleVox the obvious choice for this award,” said Darrell Manning, LPC, Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Alabama YMCA. “TeleVox employees have made a positive impact on many young people in our area, and the Corporate Partner award is a token of our appreciation.”
According to Manning, TeleVox had an extraordinarily high percentage of the company contribute their time - more than 10% of its 240 employees signed up to mentor. Other BBBS Corporate Partners have historically experienced a much lower level of participation.
Although TeleVox’s mentoring was scheduled to begin in August 2005, Hurricane Katrina pushed the start date back to late September. This year’s program is set to conclude during the first week of June, as Eichold-Mertz students are dismissed for summer vacation. Plans are in the works for TeleVox to continue working with BBBS during the 2006-07 school year.
“We are proud to see our employees give time from their busy schedules to support such a worthy cause,” said Neil Armentrout, TeleVox President and CEO.
